Fifi and Company ~ Oh, how gorgeous they are♥

Hello my friends,

Again, my apologies for neglecting my blog ~ sometimes we just need to give ourselves "me" time and that's exactly what I've done this past week.  Went to Louisiana to take a chance on winning a few $$$ ~ but guess what?  I didn't take my camera ~ what the heck was I thinking???  When we arrived at L'auberge Casino ~ I was in complete AWWWW.  SO BEAUTIFUL ~ o.k., to me it was beautiful ~ the gorgeous furniture, the mirrors, the 500 ft. ceilings, the carpeting, again, the GORGEOUS FURNITURE....I can't believe I forgot my camera!  O.K., so anyway, I did win some $$$$ ~ so, it was really fun and well worth it.

I have worked on a couple of pieces and I want to share them with you ~ I have tried a new paint color named Manhattan Mist (Behr) ~ its between a white and a gray ~ I really ♥ it....

I do have a question, though ~ when you paint a piece of furniture that is already white and go over it with a different white/gray ~ do you distress or not?  I haven't distressed these pieces because the color that will show thru is white....so, am I right or wrong?  Tell me what you think or if there is something I can do to distress and make it look prettier.

Here is Fifi and her sister Little Fifi

The hardware was gold, as is usual with french provencial pieces, however, I painted them the same Manhattan Mist and then added a silver touch to them ~ I also added some crystal knobs to the top drawers to add a touch of elegance.

Thanks for stopping by and May God Bless Y♥U!

Silver Slipper ~ Mini Curio Cabinet

Hello ~ I'm back....I get so involved in reading other blogs, working on furniture and of course, trying to maintain my house in order (remember, my daughter AND her 3 kids are living here....YIKES).  It gets rather hectic many times ~ I'm a very neat and orderly person and don't do well with piles of laundry that need to be done, unmade beds, laundry that need to be folded and put away, etc., ~ you get the picture?

Anyway, here is a picture of a pretty little curio cabinet....again, I really liked it when I saw it but the color wasn't doing it for me ~ so, since I've been on this silver/metallic finish kick lately, I went with the same on this little piece.....here it is before:  Sorry, went through all my pics and I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO DO A BEFORE......so, here she is NOW:

Also, wanted to let my fans know that I have two special ladies that have some exciting things going on.....Jannet with "SIMPLE MATTERS" will be offering a course on refinishing your own furniture...so, link up to her for more details.  Then Mandie at "Altar'd" has just finished an e-book on refinishing furniture.....Both of these ladies are extraordinarily talented ~ stop by and visit them.

Until next time, thanks for stopping by and May God Bless You♥

From Old in Gold

For those of you that remember these old vintage type plates ~ they bring back alot of memories to me.  My mom use to have some in our home, back in the days, heck, I probably had some too, when I first got married ~ they were elegant looking to me (at THAT time).  I found a couple of these the other day when I was walking through G/W ~ you can usually find some good deals.  When I saw these, I thought, well, I don't care for them in gold but maybe I can paint them or something.  So, I took a pic of one of them, BEFORE and here it is

I knew I was going to paint it white but didn't quite know what else to do with it afterwards;

Then I remembered I had some silver RUB N BUFF that I have been wanting to use but hadn't had the opportunity.  So, I started rubbing that silver stuff (SILVER LEAF is the color) all over it.  Its not very noticable in the pic but it looks prettier in person.  Here it is now:

I am working on my bedroom, because as I've mentioned before, my bedroom needs a major makeover.  I've neglected my bedroom for years and its time for a change.  I've finally found a king size headboard that I ♥ ~ its been painted white and distressed, also have other pieces that I'm working on especially for my bedroom.  Haven't made up my mind completely about the entire color theme but I think its going to be shabby chic white, with silver accents and some gold.....will be posting pics soon as my room makeover.

By the way, this RUB N' BUFF FINISH comes in various colors.  I found at Michaels for about $4.00, in case you're interested.

Thanks for stopping by and May God Bless You♥
